Our Story
Our journey began in 2015 when Oskari joined a weekend training in science communication at CERN in 2015. It was run by professional science communicators from the UK who were running science content on TV and radio. The training transformed his communication skills, which radiated to studies and work. Drawing on his new skills Oskari ended up winning the international FameLab competition with his talk on Malaria.
This spark evolved into a passion and gave rise to the wish of sharing the knowledge with future generations of scientists, young entrepreneurs and communication- enthusiasts: SpeakUp lab was born.
To date, this passion is now shared by a team of professional communicators! We are entrepreneurs, academics, consultants, and industry scientists. But our expertise extends even far beyond: We are performers, comedians, personal trainers, dancers, singers, martial artists, and teachers—we know what it’s like to be on stage.
SpeakUp lab not only reflects our shared origins in science but also our common awareness of the impact it can make, when you “Speak Up”.
Just like in a lab, we continuously experiment, push our boundaries, evolve and learn how to equip bright minds with powerful communication skills even more effectively!
Our philosophy:
- We put theory into practice
- We understand the importance of direct peer-to-peer feedback
- We communicate clearly, concisely and captivating
We equip bright minds with powerful communication skills to make a lasting impact
Oskari Vinko
Oskari co-founded UniteLabs AG in 2017 focusing on automation of life science laboratories. He exited the company after a burnout in 2021 resulting in a deep journey to his values, health, stress resiliency and purpose at work. Now he's an Automation Manager and BIIE, focusing on improving child and adolescent health in the Global South through Immune Engineering.

Raphaëlle Servant
As a curious biologist, Raphaëlle is always intrigued by what makes a presentation fascinating versus one everyone nods off to. With her academic background in Canada and Switzerland, years of singing training, and experience in the startup funding world, she is well equipped to help you find your voice, tailor your message to various audiences and make a powerful impression!

Arthur Krause
Arthur's passion for the stage began in kindergarten with a role in “Brave Little Tailor.” During his PhD, he found presenting to be the most enjoyable part of his work. This led him to join a consulting firm, where he handled numerous presentations, pitches, and high-pressure situations. To bridge the gap between science and business, he pursued the PowerMBA, experiencing the highs and lows of consulting world. This year, he joined the marketing agency Ogilvy. Alongside his professional career, his background in performing, martial arts, dancing, yoga, and personal training helps him teach others to overcome stage fright and embrace the beauty of presenting.
Cora Wiesner
Throughout her studies and PhD in biology, Cora seized every opportunity to present and teach. A passion was ignited, and early on she discovered the unique transformative power teachers can have on their audience—if the content is delivered in an engaging and clear way. Later, she started working in the pharmaceutical industry, where she deepened her teaching experience and used her skills to bridge the gaps between scientists and other interest groups through effective communication. Now, as an automation scientist at the Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering, she continues to use and develop her skills, helping to advance global child and adolescent health.
